2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and the password you choose, which is stored in encrypted form. We do not collect your full name unless you choose to provide it.

2.2 Subscription and Payment Information

Briefdex offers paid subscription plans processed through Apple In-App Purchase. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account details, or any other raw payment credentials. All payment processing is handled directly by Apple. We receive only confirmation of your subscription status (active, expired, or cancelled) and your Apple-assigned subscriber identifier.

2.3 Usage and Listening Data

We collect data about how you use the Service, including: which episodes you have listened to, your listening progress within each episode, your listening streak and statistics (days listened, episodes completed), and your in-app settings such as playback speed and skip interval preferences. This data is stored locally on your device and in our Supabase database to enable progress sync and personalised statistics.

2.4 Device and Technical Information

We may collect technical information necessary for the operation of the Service, including your device type, operating system version, app version, and push notification token if you enable notifications. We do not collect your precise GPS location.

2.5 Communications

If you contact us by email, we will retain the contents of your correspondence and your email address in order to respond to your enquiry.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  1. create and manage your account and verify your identity;
  2. provide, operate, and improve the Service;
  3. manage your subscription and process subscription-related events via Apple In-App Purchase;
  4. track and display your listening progress, streaks, and statistics;
  5. send you push notifications about new episodes, if you have opted in;
  6. respond to your support and privacy enquiries;
  7. comply with our legal obligations; and
  8. detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.

We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. We do not share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following providers solely to the extent necessary to operate the Service:

Expo / React Native (USA)

The app is built using the Expo framework, which may collect anonymised crash and diagnostic data to support app stability.

All third-party providers are bound by contractual obligations to keep your information confidential and to use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored in Supabase databases. Audio files are stored in Cloudflare R2. Local listening preferences and progress data are stored on your device using encrypted local storage.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted password storage, and access controls limiting who can access personal data.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take the protection of your data seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
